North Byron Parklands is approximately 25 minutes south of the Gold Coast airport and 20 minutes north of Byron Bay. If you’re coming by car:
Coming from Byron (travelling North)
Travel north on Pacific Highway
Take off ramp for Murwillumbah - Tweed Valley Way Exit (past Billinudgel)
Turn left onto Tweed Valley Way and travel 1.2km
Turn right into Gate C at the North Byron Parklands stone column entrance
Coming from Brisbane (travelling South)
Travel south on Pacific Highway
Continue past first Tweed Valley Way exit at Murwillumbah
Take Tweed Valley Way / Brunswick Valley Way Exit at Yelgun rest stop
Turn left onto Tweed Valley Way and travel 1.2km
Turn right into Gate C at the North Byron Parklands stone column.

Parklands is a privately-owned venue that has been operated by the same team since the property was purchased in September 2006. Byron Shire Council do not have any ownership stake in North Byron Parklands, nor do they manage the property.

Byron Shire Council will always play a role in regulating those compliance aspects that fall under the numerous local government acts responsibilities. Byron Shire Council officers regularly attend Parklands’ Regulatory Working Group. See below on the RWG.

The RWG is a group set up to review the environmental management and community relations of events at Parklands. Members include the NSW Police, Byron Shire Council, Tweed Shire Council, Roads and Maritime Services, Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service, Office of Environment and Heritage and National Parks and Wildlife Service. Community representatives from both Tweed and Byron local government areas also sit on the RWG and are appointed by their respective Councils through an expression of interest process. These representatives are selected by Council (usually by Councillors casting their vote for preferred candidates sourced from the publicly advertised expression of interest). This is a strict NO and includes activities such as walks, family picnics, drone flying, off road motorbike riding and so on. If you enter Parklands unlawfully, you are trespassing.

No. Under our approval, domestic animals are not permitted at Parklands.

Under the current Parklands approval, we are not permitted to host weddings at the site.

We do not have any positions currently available at Parklands.

Parklands does not have a volunteering program, however both Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival Byron Bay do. Please make direct contact with the events’ regarding any volunteering opportunities.

No. Parklands is 100% owned by Australians (many of whom are locals).

If you are being genuinely disturbed by noise or patron behaviour during the large events, please contact the Community Hotline which operates during event hours (from 10:00am to 2:00am each day with a recorded message between 2:00am and 10:00am) on 1300 899 440. Please note, this is not an information line for the events, but a line dedicated to addressing the concerns of local residents. In the event of emergency, please dial 000.

Splendour in the Grass organisers made changes to the Drop Off / Pick up system for its 2019 event. This new initiative was a huge success - having no on site Drop Off / Pick Up assisted with managing traffic in and around North Byron Parklands, resulting in smoother and quicker access for buses and shuttles.

Yes. Private vehicles dropping off or picking up people at North Byron Parklands during the Splendour in the Grass event will no longer be permitted. We strongly encourage you to use the extensive bus services or the SHUTTLE SERVICE that will be operating between North Byron Parklands and the external Drop Off/Pick Up location at Byron Events Farm.

Registered taxi’s, Uber’s and pre-arranged private charter vehicles will be allowed to drop off in a designated area at North Byron Parklands. However, this will be at the northern entrance to the venue, as clearly signed.

There is NO STOPPING or PARKING on Tweed Valley Way or streets surrounding North Byron Parklands. PLEASE DO NOT attempt to walk to or from the festival. Police, security and local authorities will be policing the area and FINES WILL APPLY.

North Byron Parklands is a mainly flat site however there is a natural amphitheatre, with grassy fields and a few gravel roads. There are walkways to provide access into the amphitheatre. But like any outdoor field, it can become muddy after continuous rainfall so prepare accordingly if you’re going to one of the large events.

Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival have parking set aside for eligible patrons close to the site entrance, but this is not managed by the venue. You will need to get in touch with event organisers directly before each event. Please visit their websites for further information.

Yes, Parklands has both accessible showers and accessible toilets in a dedicated area of the campgrounds. Once you have secured event and camping tickets, you will need to contact event organisers directly to arrange access. Please visit the event website for contact information.

Both Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival Byron Bay run an annual community grant scheme. These are advertised and administered directly by the events. Please contact the events directly with questions regarding timing and the application process.
